This section will define each component of The Tank Dolly®

image29

The Tank Dolly® ⏤ Oval handle, handle shaft, and snap-button

The Tank Dolly®

  • The Oval Handle's inner dimensions measure 4.25H x 7.5L inches (10.8H x 19L cm) and allow 2 divers to each place their hand on the handle to roll The Tank Dolly® ⏤ We believe in teamwork at Shark Bite Scuba®

  • The 1 inch (2.5 cm) round Oval Handle is TIG (GTAW) welded to the 1H x 1W x 28L inches (2.5H x 2.5W x 71.1L cm) shaft for superior strength and durability

  • The Handle's Shaft locks into the top of the Tank Brace via a 0.38 inch (9 mm) stainless-steel solid snap-button

  • The solid stainless-steel snap-button can support over a 1,000 pounds (453 kg) ⏤ You won't break it!

image30

Tank brace, tank brace shaft, snap-button, and anchor straps

The Tank Brace is 3H x 21L inches (7.6H x 53.3L cm) and supports 2 tanks and the Anchor Tank Straps

  • (6) 2.25H x 0.25L inch (5.7H x 0.6L cm) vertical slots are designed into the Tank Brace to reduce tension on the straps' stainless-steel grommets

  • Each Anchor Straps is threaded through the 3 vertical slots in both ends of the Tank Brace

  • (1) 0.25 inch (6 mm) stainless-steel nut and bolt locks each Anchor Tank Strap

  • (2) 0.25H x 1L inch (0.6H x 2.5L cm) horizontal slots support the Mesh Gear Bag

  • The 10H x 1.25L x 1.25W inch Tank Brace Shaft (25.4 x 3.1L x 3.1W cm) locks into the Pivot Box via a 0.38 inch (9 mm) solid snap-button and bolt

⚠️Do not overtighten the 0.38 inch (9 mm) stainless-steel bolt; The snap-button secures the Tank Brace from moving, not the bolt.

⚠️Overtightening the 0.38 inch (9 mm) will impede the Tank Brace from freely moving downward or upward.

⚠️ A moderate amount of pressure is required to disengage the snap-button to avoid accidentally disengaged the component.

Pivot box and gusset

Stainless-steel snap-button locks and unlocks the Tank Brace allowing it to pivot forward and upward

  • The Pivot Box is 8.25H x 1.53L x 1.40W inches (30H x 3.1L x 3.6W cm) and is designed to allow the Tank Brace to rotate forward and upward via a 0.38 inch (9 mm) diameter stainless-steel bolt

  • The solid stainless-steel snap-button can support over a 1,000 pounds (453 kg) ⏤ You won't break it!

  • A Gusset is a section of marine grade hardened aluminum welded to the Pivot Box and Weight Box for additional support and strength

  • The Pivot Box Gusset is 8.25H inches (21H cm) and flanks the Pivot Box ⏤ The Gusset widens downward at a 45° angle to the 19L inch (48.2L cm) Tank Platform

  • (8) 0.25H x 1L inch (0.6H x 2.5L cm) horizontal slots are engineered into the gusset to support the Mesh Gear Bag and provides anchor points for optional bungee cords

  • (2) 0.25 inch (6 mm) holes are engineered into the bottom outside corners of the gusset to connect the bottom component of the Fin Holder

image32

Strap pressure plate

The Strap Pressure Plate bolts to the Tank Brace via 4 stainless-steel bolts and PEM nuts

  • The Strap Pressure Plate is 3H x 4L inches (7.6H x 10.1L cm) and locks the tank strap to the Tank Brace

  • 4 PEM nuts are permanently attached to the rear of the Tank Brace and (4) 0.25 inch (6 mm) stainless-steel bolts lock the Strap Pressure Plate

  • The Strap Pressure Plate shall not be used with the Doubles Tank Strap due to your rig's backplate blocks access to this component

  • Only use the Doubles Tank Strap when diving 2 scuba tanks that are connected by tank bands and attached to a backplate

⚠️Do not overtighten the 0.25 inch (6 mm) stainless-steel bolts

image33

Tank brace rubber bumpers

Each scuba tank is stabilized and cradled by 2 rubber bumpers

  • 4 rubber bumpers 0.44H x 1D inch (1.1H x 2.5D cm) protect your scuba tanks and the Tank Brace from abrasions

  • The rubber bumpers may be removed and replaced with various heights and diameters to accommodate all sizes and configurations of scuba tanks ⏤ including Doubles that are connected by tank bands and attached to a backplate

  • Each rubber bumper bolts to the Tank Brace via a stainless-steel nut and bolt ⏤ The nut and a washer are embedded inside of the rubber bumper

image34

Weight box and tank platform

The Weight Box holds 4 XXL BCD integrated weight pouches, weight belts, or single weights

  • The Weight Box cargo area is 19L x 7.38W x 5H inches (48.2L x 18.7W x 12.7H cm) and can hold (20) 5-pound (2.3 kg) individual weights ⏤ That's 100 pounds (45.3 kg) of lead weight

  • The opening of the Weight Box is 19L x 4.5W inches (48.2L x 11.4W cm) allowing easy access to your weight

  • 1 or 2 scuba tanks ranging in diameter from 5.5 to 8 inches (13.9 to 20.32 cm) rest on top of the front and rear lip of the Tank Platform (see below photo depicting 7.25 and 8 inch tanks)

  • Tank Platform's front lip: 2.75W x 19L inches (7W x 48.2L cm)

  • Tank Platform's rear lip: 2.25W x 19L inches (5.7W x 48.3L cm)

  • Non-skid tape ensures your scuba tank(s) will not move in transit and protects the surface of the Weight Box

  • 24 drainage slots prevent standing water and creates airflow

⚠️ We recommend keeping your BCD integrated weight pouches in the Weight Box and not in your BCD while in transit.

The stainless-steel axle supports over 350 pounds (159 kg) ⏤ You won't bend it!

  • Diameter: 0.5 inch (1.2 cm)

  • The Axle Gussets are sections of marine grade hardened aluminum welded to the Weight Box and Pivot Box support the Axle and provides, durability, balance, and ground clearance

  • The Axle Gussets additionally provide stability by moving the center tipping point further to rear when placing gear into the Fin Holder and Mesh Gear Bag

image39
